The Community Safety Partnership has quite a few projects on the go as part of our efforts to reduce crime and make the Wigan Borough a cleaner, greener, and safer place to be.
The projects range from small ideas such as the insecure burglary letters to large scale, multi agency projects, such as the Community Improvement Project.
The Community Improvement Project (CIP) is a multi agency pilot project focussed in 4 areas of the Borough: Hag fold, Platt Bridge, Higher Folds, and Higher Ince.

This initiative began as a pilot in November 2007. It aims to raise awareness of the risks of becoming a victim of burglary and prevent repeat victimisation by warning residents when a burglary has taken place in their area.

Led by the Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service, the Water safety action plan aims to raise awareness of the dangers of swimming in open water.

The talking signs will be attached to lampposts in car crime hotspots to warn residents and motorists to stay alert and prevent crime.
