A little extra thought helps save lives

Thursday 30th October 2008 (ref: GMP/2390/2008)

Shoppers at Tesco in Wigan will learn that a little extra thought can help save lives on the borough’s roads.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Martin Ryan will be attending a safer driving event at the store on Central Park Way from Wednesday 29 October to Friday 31 October between 11am and 4pm.

PCSO Ryan will be handing out a number of vehicle and road safety leaflets as well as conducting a road safety quiz which shoppers can enter and win a steering lock for their car.

Inspector Glenn Jones of the Wigan Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The quiz will include questions on the legal alcohol limit for driving, the penalties for drug driving and the correct driving speed on different roads, as these are the sorts of things that motorists can easily forget the answers to. I would urge as many people as possible to visit PCSO Ryan at Tesco between the advertised times.”
