The Groundwork Trust is leading a clean up of the Woodcock estate in Platt Bridge on the 3rd October ahead of bonfire night. There will be a litter pick with Platt Bridge Primary School in the morning and an open litterpick in the afternoon. Members of the Voice of Woodcock and Wigan's Princes trust Team will also be helping out.
They will remove any large items dumped and there is a 'bulky goods' amnesty for residents. Skips will be located on Woodcock drive between 9am and 4pm. Residents can bring fridges, large items of furniture and other bulky items to the skips during these times*.
A collections service is available for people who are elderly or disabled; contact Jean Gidman to arrange collections and for more information.
Contact Jean Gidman for more information on 01942 821444 or email wigan@groundwork.org.uk
*Please note no commercial or hazardous waste will be accepted and anyone caught dumping out of hours will be prosecuted and could be fined up to £5,000.
The aim of the clean up is to reduce the risk of deliberate fires and uncontrolled bonfires from being started on Bonfire night.
