PACT stands for Partners and Communities Together. It's a community engagement process that enables communities to tell us what's important to them and enables us to respond to those priorities.
The Worsley Mesnes ward PACT covers Worsley Mesnes, Hawkley Hall, Poolstock and part of Goose Green.
In short you say... and we do!
Over the next year PACT will be rolled out across the Borough by the Neighbourhood teams. As it happens we will be able to bring you more and more information as the process gathers momentum.
What is PACT?
Partners and Communities together involves a wide range of organisations, including Wigan Council, Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service, Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust, Wigan & Leigh Housing, elected members, local businesses, voluntary groups, and residents to name just a few.
PACT is a course of action that partners and communities will take to identify and respond to the issues that matter most to you. We will use a mixture of statistics and consultation with the community to tell us what needs to be done to improve your area.
PACT started life as a pilot in the Worsley Mesnes ward: since then the process has evolved and been streamlined. The process was then rolled out to Pemberton and Douglas wards and it is currently being rolled out across Leigh. The rest of the Borough will follow over the course of 2008.
Neighbourhood Teams
New neighbourhood teams are being created to manage the PACT process. We will bring you more details on the teams soon.
Your latest priorities
Following the most recent round of doorknocking (June 2008) the priorities for the Worsley Mesnes ward are now:
- teenagers hanging round the streets
- parents not taking responsibility for the behaviour of their children
- shops selling alcohol to people who are underage
Work has now begun to put together the action plans for the area to address these priorities.
Your previous top 3 priorities (from June 2007) are:
- tackling drug misuse
- providing activities and places for young people
- reducing vandalism
Worsley Mesnes Ward newsletter
The PACT newsletter reports back to the community what action has been taken to tackle the issues that you said were most important in your area. It also includes useful contact details to help you report problems, crime, and get information and support for drug & alcohol problems. Issue 2 of the Worsley Mesnes PACT newsletter is now available.
