Ward Information

Areas within the Wigan West ward were also formally dominated by the coal mining industry. Gidlow was the site of various collieries.

Mainly comprised of residential areas, the Wigan West ward is in close proximity to the Heart of Wigan. Springfield Park, The home ground of Wigan Athletic untill May 1999, was once central to the ward and was surrounded by a network of terraced streets. The Latics now play at the JJB stadium, and their former ground  is now a residential area.

Demographics

The demographic make up of an area can influence how much crime is experienced within that area.
