and talk to someone in confidence. The helpline offers local advice and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How to decide what you need
Talking about the problem will help you decide what to do next. If you need to see someone, the person you speak to can arrange that for you. You will get help if you ask, and you won’t wait more than 2 days to see someone.
What kind of help is available?
There are lots of different services available to help you.
You might want:
- Advice on your drug and/or alcohol use
- Help with cutting down or stopping
- Advice and support about housing or benefits
- Clean injecting equipment
- To get into work, education or training
- To meet new people and try new things
- To volunteer for a project
- Help with a personal problem
Whatever you want to do, we can put you in touch with the right people.
Where to go
Wigan and Leigh have lots of services to help you. The free phone helpline can tell you where they are, when they are open and what to do to use them. Services are open late through the week – and stay open at weekends.
You keep control
The person you talk to will listen to what you want. They won’t push you into anything. If you require help with your drug and or alcohol use or think you or a friend has a problem, they can arrange for you so see someone, you won’t wait more that 2 days to see someone.
Is there a charge for services?
Services in Wigan commissioned by the Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) are free at the point of contact for all service users.

Y.P.D.A.T The Young Person's Drug and Alcohol Team is open to individuals aged under 19 with a substance misuse problem.
