Borough residents are being urged to have their say about alcohol as part of the Regional North-West’s ‘Big Drink Debate’.

The Wigan & Leigh Community Safety Partnership is backing an NHS North West ‘Our Life’ programme to find out more about people’s attitudes to alcohol and problem drinking. Everyone in the Borough should be able to enjoy a drink without harming themselves or others – or being afraid of violence. The Big Drink Debate is the first step towards making a regional difference by promoting safer drinking.

Recent statistics have indicated that the North West is the region with the highest level of people with hazardous /harmful drinking behaviour - 29% - and the second worst in the country for binge drinking adults.
